Where the Red Fern Grows

Wallin has always had a passion for working on projects which promote positive family values and believes it is important to cherish classic, literary achievements through the film medium. Wallin produced a remake of one of her favorite stories from childhood; the time honored classic, Where the Red Fern Grows. Because of the original success of the film and the ongoing popularity of the book, which Publisher's Weekly listed as the "Fifth Most Widely Read Paperback Children's Book of all Time", she anticipates that the film will be highly commercial as well as a very entertaining family movie. The film was shot on location in the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and in Los Angeles. Wallin is also responsible for attaching rock musician Dave Matthews of the Dave Matthews Band, Dabney Coleman, Ned Beatty, Renee Faia, Joseph Ashton and Kris Kristofferson. Where the Red Fern Grows will be released in 2004.

Where the Red Fern Grows was the recipient of the prestigious Crystsal Heart Award in 2004 at the Heartland Film Festival.

    Dillinger in Paradise

    Dillinger in Paradise

Wallin produced the award-winning independent project entitled "Dillinger in Paradise". This is an action/adventure fantasy about a gang of modern-day bank robbers (the Johnny Hill Gang,) who pattern their robberies after the exploits of the notorious John Dillinger. When the gang discovers that the legendary outlaw-who was reported to have been gunned down by the FBI in 1934-is still alive, they go on a cross country quest to find the real Dillinger, only to discover that the police have been setting a trap for them all along.

Dillinger in ParadiseOriginally shot as a short, the film garnered numerous awards on the festival circuit- and was selected as a finalist in the Hollywood Film Festival's 1999 Hollywood Discovery Awards. As a result, Dillinger in Paradise was cybercast online at the prestigious Entertainment Tonight TV Show website at www.etonline.com! In addition, Dillinger received the prestigious Gold Award at the WorldFest International Film Festival in Flagstaff and top awards at the Saguaro and Chicago International Film Festivals. Dillinger is now set to be shot as a feature length film. This a funny, sexy, dangerous and wildly unpredictable story looks to be both critically and commercially successful, Starring Maria Conchita Alonso.

    Knockout

Wallin co-produced and cast the feature film, Knockout, a stylized docudrama about the rise of a female Latina fighter and can be best described as the first "female Rocky movie". For this film, Katy was nominated for an Artios Award for her Achievement in Casting. This project was appealling to Katy because of its ethnic diversity and strong female lead. Katy conducted a four month search for the female lead and eventually cast newcomer Sophia Hernandez in the role. The film stars Maria Conchita Alonso, William McNamara, Paul Winfield, Tony Plana, Eduardo Yanez and Tony Burton. Some of the film's proceeds go to benefit an inner city youth foundation. "KNOCKOUT" was released theatrically in the Spring of 2000.

MysticArt Pictures is currently developing their next feature film, Hold on Tight.
